The location
The Ruhr area has many different sides.
We love the contrasts that Das Lola combines: a former mine site, in the middle of the forest. Absolute peace and quiet, but within walking distance of the trade fair. Located on quiet Wiedfeldtstrasse, what you see when you look out the window is the forest. The Lola is located directly at the Krupp forest and on the border between the green residential area of Bredeney and the fun-loving Rüttenscheid district.
If you walk out the door and turn left, you can take a relaxing jog through the forest or explore the historic Hügelpark and Lake Baldeney on foot. If you turn right, you will reach the Essen trade fair, various restaurants and bars and the great Folkwang Museum within 15 minutes.
Horse riding, cycling and canoeing are just as obvious here as business and bars. We know the best place to end a long working day. We would be happy to book a tour of the “Zollverein” Coal Mine Unesco World Heritage Site for you. But we also know what Essen has to offer beyond its coal mining past. We have put together a selection of tips for going out and excursions, for which Das Lola is the perfect starting and arrival point.
